Customer Service Representative

Job Description 

Full-time. Ninety (90)-day training period. This position supports the daily operations of the wholesale customer service department. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: 

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Respond promptly and professionally to any and all incoming wholesale and retail customer inquiries via phone and email (high phone volume during peak times of year) 
  • Process wholesale orders 
  • Process customer-related forms, applications, and requests 
  • Provide information on our products and policies to customers and sales representatives 
  • Assist with key account set up and management 
  • Record details of inquiries, comments, complaints, and/or actions taken 
  • Assist with invoicing and credit card payments 
  • Assist credit department with credit checks and collections 
  • Assist with replacement part orders and product technical support 

Secondary Responsibilities (as needed): 

  • Filing, mailings, and general administrative tasks 
  • Shipping and receiving (low volume, small shipments) 
  • Various projects, such as model building and product testing 
  • Assist with trade show preparation 
  • Some travel may be required 

We are looking for an individual with these qualities: 

  • Excellent organizational and follow-up skills 
  • High attention to detail 
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; nuance and diplomacy are a must 
  • Sound critical thinking and problem-solving skills 
  • Self-starter who can work independently, but knows when to appropriately bring management team into the decision-making process 
  • Fast learner; can learn, retain, and apply information quickly and efficiently 
  • Ability to remain calm, positive, and effective in high-energy, high-expectation situations of urgency 
  • High-degree of computer literacy; must be proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint Experience with order-processing, EDI, and/or SAP Business One is a plus 
  • A true interest in Thames & Kosmos products and general mission: science education, toys and children, as well as an understanding that what benefits the company as whole will ultimately benefit the individual 

Compensation 

  • $30,000 starting annual salary. Full-time, based on 40-hour workweek, regular business hours (Monday – Friday, 9am-5pm), bi-weekly payroll. Ninety (90)-day trial period (probationary employment period)
